comment number 1 My vagina smell comes and goes -- and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with cleanliness. Comment by: ladybug

comment number 3 Yes!!! It is wrong to douche **at all**.  The American Journal of Public Health reports that douching may reduce a woman's chance of becoming pregnant during a particular month by approximately thirty percent.  And, regular users of vaginal douches face a 73% greater risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease.  DO NOT DOUCHE, EVER!  The best way to clean your vagina is let it clean itself.  It's amazing that it can do that - but it does.  If you think your vagina smells unhealthy, the best thing to do is go to your doctor. Your doctor will be able to let you know whether you have an infection or if its just your natural smell.  And if it is your natural smell, and you shower regularly, no one will tell you you're smelly.  Truly. comment number 4 I always worry that I smell, but I just make sure to take a bath (not shower) before going to meet my boyfriend; so I know it's as clean as it can get. Comment by: Blu

comment number 5 Sometimes after my period it smells REALLY bad, but a bath and a good scrub with a washcloth can usually take it away.

I used to use those FDS products, but really they're no good for you. The feminine wash contains amonium laureth sulfate, which is a very harsh chemical to be putting on such a delicate area. Plain water and shaving usually works just fine to keep the smell down. I don't even like to put soap down there since it's supposed to be acidic, and soap is basic.

comment number 8 The "sprays are bad" claim seems a little fishy -- like feminist doctrine. Patriarchical corporations selling perfume & makeup, yada yada yada body image yada yada. Comment by: Sam Spade

comment number 9 Sam Spade, as Cherry TV Chickalee wrote, it is acknowledged in the medical community that douches are not good for women's bodies. Many women are advised not to use them by their doctors. It's not a "fishy" "claim," it's a fact. (and by the way, you might want to examine why you're so dismissive of the legitimate concerns women have about why they are pressured to smell different, look different, and so on--everything that you refer to as "yada yada" that probably affects every woman you know, as well as your daughters, if you have any, or will have any.)
